I know that it has become a cliche, but in my lifetime the only person that could come close to Tiger Woods' accomplishments is Michael Jordan. This weekend's US Open is just another part of the legend that is Tiger Woods.I starting watching the US Open on Saturday evening when Tiger was 5 shots down, because I was putting my daughter to sleep and she has absolutely no interest in watching golf. It also gave me the opportunity to watch a bit of golf so that I could talk with my grandfather about it on Father's Day.
What I saw was nothing short of remarkable. His chip that bounce off the flagpole into the cup will be seen for years to come. Of course, his two eagles with one coming on the 18th were not too shabby either.
I thought that there was no way for him to top it, but today he may very well have done just that. Making birdie on the 18th after struggling so mightily early on and then chipping after a bad drive is the stuff of legends.
I am looking forward to seeing the 18 hole playoff tomorrow. He is as close to a machine as there has ever been in any sport. Thank you, Tiger, for being the great competitor that you are.
